In his address, Shri Tejasvi Surya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, said: “The launch of Sammprada Hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant Unit marks an important milestone in Bengaluru’s healthcare journey. It reflects our city’s growing strength in advanced medical care and innovation. What is truly commendable is the hospital’s focus on affordability and inclusivity — ensuring that even the most sophisticated cancer treatments are within the reach of every citizen. Initiatives like this bring us closer to our vision of a healthier and stronger India.”

Said Shri Ravi Subramanya L.A., Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly: “The opening of such a dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is a welcome step for patients battling serious blood disorders and cancers. Such initiatives strengthen our city’s healthcare infrastructure and offer new hope to families who need advanced treatment options close to home. I congratulate the entire team of Sammprada Hospital for their dedication to providing quality healthcare for all, especially for those who need it most.”

Added Dr. Radheshyam Naik, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist and Head of the BMT Unit, Sammprada Hospital, Bengaluru: “ With very few hospitals in Bengaluru offering comprehensive bone marrow transplant services  and most being prohibitively expensive for the common man — this new BMT facility bridges a crucial gap by combining cutting-edge medical technology with compassionate, patient-centred care. Our vision has always been to bring advanced medical care within the reach of every individual, regardless of their financial background. The launch of this Unit reflects our continued commitment to affordability, innovation, and empathy in healthcare.”

The new BMT Unit, which currently has the capacity to handle up to 36 patients annually, will be headed by Dr. Radheshyam Naik, one of India’s foremost experts in bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Naik is widely recognized for pioneering BMT procedures in India and has successfully treated thousands of patients with complex cancers. The BMT Unit will treat a wide range of blood cancers and bone marrow disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, thalassemia, and sickle cell anemia. It will also cater to patients suffering from immune and genetic disorders that affect the production of healthy blood cells.

The unit offers both autologous and allogeneic transplants, enabling treatment for patients across age groups and disease types. A specialized pediatric team comprising transplant physicians, hematologists, and trained nursing staff will manage transplants for children with tailored chemotherapy, infection control, and nutritional protocols.

Recognizing that financial barriers often prevent patients from accessing life-saving treatment, Sammprada Hospital has announced a strong patient support ecosystem through financial aid, partnerships, and social programs.

The Shobha Trust, founded by Dr. Radheshyam Naik, plays a key role in funding cancer treatments for underprivileged patients, including bone marrow transplants for those unable to afford them. In addition, the hospital is exploring collaborations with government health schemes, NGOs, and CSR partners to create a sustainable network of funding and patient support. It is also introducing caregiver assistance and counseling programs to help families manage emotional and logistical challenges during the transplant journey.
